Project History

The widening of the SH-99 corridor has been the goal of ODOT, and the Cities of Ada, Seminole, Prague and Stroud since the early 1990’
s. The City of Ada formed a committee and coalitions with the other cities at that time. The hope and the goal were that the four-lane highway would extend from I-44 in Stroud, south to the Chickasaw Turnpike in Ada, then eventually head west thru Davis, Oklahoma, and connect to I-35, giving heavy trucks and freight traveling from Kansas City to Tulsa to Dallas another option, which could alleviate traffic through Oklahoma CityThere would also be economic benefits to the cities, establishing business opportunities as hubs along this route. This project represents one of the four remaining segments of this four-lane corridor left to be constructed. Please click on the map linked below.
